From Denmark: Fitness update on Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu–And it’s good news

Denmark manager Brian Riemer still hopes to have Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu back for the March international break.

That’s according to the coach himself, who has been speaking to Viaplay about the Manchester United defender. Tipsbladet have relayed his comments.

Dorgu is currently battling his way back from a serious hamstring injury suffered at the end of January. Initial reports expected him to be out until mid-April.

Scans done on the injury suggested a 10-week layoff, but recent updates have indicates a potential setback, or, at least, a more cautious approach from Manchester United to his rehabilitation.

Either way, the 21-year-old had looked set to miss Denmark’s clash against North Macedonia on March 26th.

They take on the Macedonians in the semi-final of the World Cup qualification play-offs. They’re then scheduled to play in the final of the play-offs, if they progress, on 31st March. That will see them take on either Czechia or the Republic of Ireland.

Both games were thought to be too soon for the Manchester United man. But Riemer is not ruling him out just yet.

Positive outlook from Denmark

“Right now, he is reported injured by Manchester United, and he is until April,” Riemer said.

“I know that Patrick has a dream of being ready. I think his biggest motivation right now, when he is running around in that training room, is that he wants to battle everyone and then be ready for that match.

“I’ll only help him keep that dream alive as long as the opportunity exists.”

After two months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, most would argue that Dorgu is unlikely to be ready. With World Cup qualification on the line, though, there may be no stopping the 21-year-old from being there, though.

To be in top shape for Denmark, Dorgu would likely have to play for Manchester United first, suggesting a return before the end of next month.

The player himself appears to be convinced that’s possible. That’s what he’s working towards and Riemer believes the youngster is giving it everything.
