Roy Keane has been speaking about Tottenham’s chances of beating the drop this season.
Tottenham find themselves in a relegation battle with less than a quarter of the season remaining. Spurs are now within four points of the relegation zone, with West Ham creeping up behind them following some impressive form over recent weeks.
The next two games, against Fulham and Crystal Palace, will be key for Tottenham as they look to pull away from the drop zone, and after a game with Liverpool, they then face Nottingham Forest, which could be the biggest game of their season so far.
New interim boss Igor Tudor will already know those games will play a big role in shaping the job he has over the coming weeks. Either Spurs do well in those games and put relegation worries behind them, allowing them to target a push towards mid-table in the back-end of the season.
Alternatively, if they fail to pick up enough points, Tudor and his men will spend the rest of the season wrestling with West Ham and Nottingham Forest for safety.
Despite having injuries aplenty, the obvious advantage Tottenham have over those other two sides is the strength of their squad, with plenty of talent still at Tudor’s disposal, even if there are a number of injury issues.
And according to pundit Roy Keane, that squad strength will prove the difference when it comes to Tottenham pulling away from relegation trouble, Speaking on The Overlap, he said: “I think they’ll find a bit more than [Nottingham] Forest or West Ham. It’s as simple as that.”
Spurs are currently four points clear of the drop zone, but they do have an easier next few games compared to West Ham, which could give them the chance to distance themselves from the basement battle. Forest also have some tricky games coming up, facing Brighton and Manchester City in their next two.
