Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has addressed the growing speculation linking Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga with a summer move to Manchester United as a potential replacement for outgoing Casemiro.
With Casemiro confirmed to be leaving United at the end of the 2025/26 season upon the expiry of his contract, the Red Devils’ recruitment department are already mapping out summer plans to fill the combative midfield void vacated by the Brazilian legend.
Manchester United have been linked with several midfield targets, and Fichajes previously reported that the Premier League side had an eye on Camavinga as a long-term solution in the engine room. However, Romano’s assessment on his YouTube channel offered a stark reality check for United supporters and recruitment chiefs alike.
Romano stressed that while there has been rumour and speculation regarding Manchester United’s interest in Camavinga, Real Madrid currently have “no intention” of selling the midfielder, who is seen as a key part of the clubs plans in midfield. Camavinga has enjoyed a significant role at the Bernabéu and remains under contract until 2029, giving Real Madrid strong leverage to retain his services.
Romano also highlighted that Madrid aim to strengthen their own midfield, not offload talent, hinting that unless their plans shift dramatically between now and July, Camavinga is unlikely to be available on the transfer market this summer
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “I also saw someone saying Camavinga would be the perfect replacement for Casemiro. Yes, but these are fantastic players and Real Madrid, I don’t think they have any intention to change their plans in midfield.
“They have eventually to add the player in midfield at Real Madrid, not to let the player go. So, at this stage, this is the reality, then still long time before the summer.
“If something happens with Tchouameni, with Camavinga, and I think also with Real Madrid, incomings in midfield, we will, for sure, let you know.”
What Will Man United Look For in summer?
If Michael Carrick is able to get Manchester United back into the Champions League for next season, then they will be able to attract the biggest players once again, so until that happens, this is all speculation.
The Red Devils have some big decisions to make in the summer about whether or not they will give Carrick the permanent job or will hire someone new, and before that happens, many players will be linked.
But we are expecting United to make some big impact signings that is for sure.
