John Terry has predicted which of West Ham and Nottingham Forest will be relegated.
West Ham have the wind in their sails as they look to beat the drop and beat the odds in doing so. The Hammers have clawed their way back from the brink to move within two points of safety.
Nottingham Forest are the team trying to keep the Hammers below them, while Tottenham are only four points better off at this point. Leeds United are currently six points ahead and looking as though they are on their way to safety having shown consistent form over the last couple of months.
West Ham do have their work cut out over the coming weeks, though, as they look to maintain the momentum they have built up in recent weeks. The Hammers face Liverpool, Fulham, Manchester City and Aston Villa in their next four games, ahead of a must-win against bottom club Wolves.
The Iron are going to need to find a way to pick up some points during that run to stay in contention, even if Nottingham Forest’s fixture list is not too friendly, either. Forest face Brighton and Manchester City in their next two and Tottenham and Aston Villa after that.
With that in mind, it’s likely the race will go down to the final weeks of the season, and it will be interesting to see how momentum swings, and if indeed it does. West Ham clearly have the momentum currently, with Forest out of form and now adapting to a new manager in Victor Pereira,
But with just under a quarter of the season remaining, it’s likely that momentum will swing back and forth until we learn who is heading to the Championship and who will remain in the top flight.
According to Chelsea legend John Terry, West Ham will fit into the latter category, with the former defender tipping Forest to sink into the drop zone. He told The Double Tops podcast: “I think West Ham will stay up, I do yeah. Genuinely, I think West Ham will stay up.”
Asked who he thinks will be relegated, Terry added: “Wolves, Burnley and Forest are in trouble I think.” West Ham fans will be praying that prediction comes true.
