Newcastle United take on Everton in a Premier League match at St. James' Park this Saturday.
Just one point separates these two sides, with Newcastle in 11th on 36 points, and Everton in 9th on 37.
So with a faint chance of European qualification still alive for these sides, who will come out on top?
Newcastle United vs Everton Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
The last time these sides faced off, Newcastle easily dispatched Everton, winning 1-4 at the Hill-Dickinson Stadium. However, Everton won 0-1 in their last visit to St. James' Park, and haven't actually lost there since October 2022.
Newcastle picked up a win over Qarabag to move into the Champions League's Round of 16 this week, allowing them to bounce back from a below-par defeat against Manchester City last weekend. That loss broke a three-game winning run for Eddie Howe's side.
Everton fell to defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Monday in an overly physical game that was not an impressive showing from the Toffees. The loss was their second defeat in a row, following their loss to Bournemouth on February 10th, and they have now won just one of their last five.
As usual, Newcastle's home record is far superior to their away one, as they have won seven of their 13 matches at St. James' Park this season. However, two of their four home losses have come since the turn of the year, with the most recent coming at the hands of Brentford on February 7th.
Everton, curiously, have been more effective on the road than they have been at home, winning six away matches this season. In fact, their last three victories in the Premier League have come on the road, in tricky matches against Fulham, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle United vs Everton Prediction
While Newcastle are usually strong at home, this match could be tricky for them. Not only are they not on the best run in the Premier League - their only win in six came over struggling Spurs - but they may also be tired from a tough game against Qarabag on Tuesday.
Everton, meanwhile, have been in patchy form for most of the season, but they have proven to be tough to beat, and haven't lost away since December 13th.
Everton's lack of goals could prove to be an issue for them here, as they have scored the fewest in the top half of the table, but overall, it feels like a draw is the most likely outcome here.
Prediction: Newcastle United 1-1 Everton
