Regis Le Bris spoke strongly about the racist abuse Romaine Mundle received following the Fulham game, but also spoke warmly about the positive reaction shown by the squad and the fanbase. Unfortunately for Romaine, he's going to be sidelined with a recurrance of a previous injury which is frustrating.
“What happened to Romaine is unacceptable and we stand with him. There is no room for racism or abuse in football or anywhere else. That is clear for us - we stand for respect, diversity and inclusion. These are the values of football and the values of the club.”

“I don’t really know why, but I can at least repeat that we don’t want to accept that. We have to have a clear position and I think that is the case here in Sunderland. We want to defend values. When someone, or a group of people, wants to threaten those values then it is important to react.”
SQUAD/FANS LOVE AND SUPPORT
“It was the case. It is not always easy to be around the dressing room and to understand different relationships, but the respect and support are huge at this club. It is not only internal, I feel that it is external as well. I think you see the values of a family when it hurts, and that is now the case. I’m really happy with the reactions and the way people behave in this part of the country.”
“It is not acceptable, I will repeat that, but it becomes common unfortunately. Is it because of the technology? I don’t know. Now, you have different opportunities to send bad messages. However, there is an opportunity on the other side to show greater reactions which I think was the case.”
“That is another topic. It might be a difficult injury and he might be sidelines for a few weeks or months. We still have further assessments to make and we will have a clear picture soon.”
