Everton swooped to land the player in the winter transfer window to boost their squad

Everton new boy Tyrique George has been labelled as an ‘old school’ type of player by ex-Toffees man Jermaine Beckford. He was signed on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window. The winger has since made a positive impression at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

David Moyes’ side were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United last time out. They weren’t able to find an equaliser against the Red Devils and slumped to a defeat. The Merseyside outfit have the chance to bounce back this weekend against Newcastle United.

Everton signed George this winter to boost their attacking department. He gives them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. The forward was given the green light to leave Chelsea to get some more game time under his belt.

George, 20, has made a handful of appearances for the Toffees so far. Moyes has been slowly easing him into the fold. He has looked bright so far and will be eager to continue his development over the coming weeks.

The youngster, who is an England youth international, has risen up through the academy at Chelsea. He was a regular for the Blues at various different youth levels before rising into the first-team picture. The London-born man has made 37 appearances for his parent club to date and has chipped in with six goals.

Jermaine Beckford hails Everton’s Tyrique George

Former Everton man Beckford was impressed with George against Manchester United and said, as per BBC Sport: "Tyrique George was a bit of a throwback to the old school where as a winger you give him the ball and say, 'go on then, attack your full-back. Let's see what you can do'. He got the crowd up and bubbling. But this is a youngster, we need a little more of that from one or two of the experienced players.

"It's an area to look at improving in the summer. But when you look at where Everton have been in previous seasons and where they are now, we have to take it with a bit of context. Everton are still in a great position - ninth and touching distance of a European spot. You have a target in mind."
