The 45-year-old has been rewarded for an impressive first season in charge at the Gtech, having taking over from Thomas Frank during the summer.

Under his management, the Bees sit seventh in the Premier League table, putting them in the picture for European qualification with only 11 games remaining.

Andrews has subsequently put pen to paper on a six-year deal to keep him in West London until 2032.

Brentford’s director of football Phil Giles said: “When Keith accepted the job last summer, he signed a three-year contract, but the intention was always that we’d review this at the earliest opportunity.

“Given our progress this season, I’m really happy that we have agreed this extension within the first nine months.

“Keith has done an outstanding job, the team are playing well and the things we thought we could be better at this season have all improved.

“He is a really good fit for the club and the way we like to work, as he is able to bring the best out of both players and staff alike.

“Everyone at Brentford will be pleased to hear that Keith will be with us for many years to come, and I’m excited by what we can all achieve together in the coming seasons.”

Scott Parker’s praise

Ahead of Saturdays’ meeting between Burnley and Brentford, Scott Parker spoke of his admiration for the former midfielder.

“Keith Andrews has done a great job so far. Massively impressed and I know Keith pretty well,” he said.

“I've been in dialogue with Keith over many years really. Intelligent guy, someone who obviously has gone about his business and got to the level now where he is and has earned that right.

“This is not someone who's been put in a position out of luck. This is someone who's put in the hard graft and the hard yards to be in the position he's in.

“So I have huge respect for Keith and he's done an absolute fantastic job. A talented, talented coach, which we're all seeing.

“Obviously going into a club as well, which is well-structured and that's probably helped as well. But huge respect for Keith and what he's doing. I look forward to seeing him in the weekend and having a chat as always.”
