“A bit doomed..” – Roy Keane and Gary Neville give honest Leeds United relegation assessment

**[Leeds United](https://www.leedsallover.com/tag/leeds-united/) are looking to stay in the Premier League this season and have a good position to build on going forward.**

One game remains in what’s been a challenging slate of February fixtures for Leeds. Three successive league games see Leeds close out February against Chelsea, Aston Villa and now Manchester City – occupying three of the current top five.

Daniel Farke, though, has come away from Stamford Bridge and Villa Park with hard-earned draws. It gives him something to build on heading into March.

Away from the growing tension at the top end of the Premier League table, the relegation battle looks incredibly hectic as well.

West Ham currently occupy the final relegation spot above Burnley and Wolves. However, [the Stick To Football podcast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLcOSlmj3Ng&list=PLfikCHtGjo4l2AJbpkgkmFOxgIQBc9Pn2&index=1&t=3949s&pp=iAQB) doesn’t think it’s Leeds that are the team to worry about. Instead, it could be Nottingham Forest to watch.

> _“The team that looks a bit doomed at the moment, you’re probably saying Forest,”_ Roy Keane responded. _“I know they have a new coach going in, he needs a good start, different ideas coming their way. A huge weekend coming up.”_

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez featured as a guest on this podcast. When discussing the relegation battle, the Spaniard noted how Leeds and Sunderland have narrowed the gap to established Premier League clubs.

> _“Last year, the three teams that came from the Championship, there was a big divide,”_ Martinez said. _“From the outside I was thinking it was true, the Premier League and the Championship were dragging away from each other._

>

> _“This year, what Sunderland and Leeds are doing, all of a sudden the gap now is smaller.”_

>

> _“On what you just said about Leeds and Sunderland,”_ Gary Neville added. _“What’s happened in the last two or three years is teams have come up and tried to play football._

>

> _“No doubt, Leeds and Sunderland have gone back to basics. They’ve gone physical, they’ve gone aggressive.”_

Can Leeds United maintain strong Premier League form to cruise to survival?

I am noticing less and less, outside of Leeds circles, that we’re not being regarded as standout candidates for relegation anymore.

It’s good to see that we’re being seen as comfortable. That said, I’d never have that much confidence in us until it’s fully done.

Consistency is key for us now. If we can continue as we have done ever since that away game at Man City, we should be okay.

Full credit to Farke for getting us into this sort of position with 11 games to go.
