West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo was keen to promote the virtues of teamwork when directly asked about Axel Disasi yesterday.
The Chelsea loanee has been nothing short of sensational since joining the Hammers on deadline day and certainly does not look like a player who had gone seven months without competitive football.
The Frenchman has struck up an impressive partnership with Dinos Mavropanos in central defence as West Ham have kept clean sheets against Burnley and Bournemouth.
In fact, the one blot on the record against Manchester United came via an extra-time wonder strike from Benjamin Šeško — something unlikely to be repeated any time soon.
Team Effort Behind the Clean Sheets

However, when asked about Disasi’s performances, Nuno was quick to highlight the contribution of the entire side, beginning with the press from the front.
“Every time we speak about our defence, it comes from the whole team. From organisation, pressing — we are growing in that aspect, which helps us. The players have got to know each other better, and it’s a team effort.”
He is not wrong.
It is evident in the way Taty Castellanos closes down relentlessly and even in the unselfish manner Jarrod Bowen appears to be sacrificing parts of his attacking game to help out Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Just as well, too — because there will be a lot more defending to do [against Liverpool](https://www.claretandhugh.info/liverpool-vs-west-ham-preview-team-news-predicted-line-ups/).
