Newcastle United’s busy run of fixtures is showing no sign of slowing down, with Eddie Howe’s Mags facing two games a week for at least the next month.
Injuries have been an issue all season, and the latest concern was Jacob Ramsey’s absence on Tuesday night due to a tight hamstring.
Thankfully, Craig Hope reports that our £40m summer signing is expected to be OK for tomorrow’s home clash with Everton, with scans showing the midfielder has avoided any injury of note.
However, in his latest Confidential Column for The Mail, the North East reporter has shared some frustrating news on Lewis Miley and Bruno Guimaraes.
Miley has been missing since our Champions League draw at PSG back in January, missing our last eight games, and it’s thought a thigh issue (caused from a dead leg) is likely to keep him out of upcoming games against Everton, Man Utd and Man City.
The 19-year-old is hoping to be back on the grass next week, but a realistic return date for his return is our Champions League last 16 tie at home to Chelsea or Barcelona on 10th or 11th March.
As for Bruno, who is recovering back in Brazil, it was suggested that a return in early April was likely. However, Hope fears that the former Lyon star is more likely to be back at the end of April.
This could see our captain miss April clashes against Crystal Palace (11th) and Bournemouth (18th) after the Sunderland derby next month, our FA Cup clash with Man City and both Champions League knockout games.
In better news, Tino Livramento is on track to return next month, giving us a much-needed boost at full-back, while Sven Botman, Yoane Wissa and Joelinton have all been back from injuries this week.
