Everton given fresh hope of Nicolas Jackson deal amid anger at Bayern Munich (opinion)

Everton are keen to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea this summer, but Bayern Munich are in control.

The German giants signed the Senegal international on a €16.5m (£14m) loan deal back in September, which includes an option to make the move permanent for €65m (£57m) this summer.

It was Caught Offside who initially claimed that Everton want Jackson – and the chances of the Chelsea loanee staying in Bavaria now seem incredibly slim after a new update from BILD.

Nicolas Jackson expressing obvious signs of annoyance at Bayern Munich as Everton lurk

The German news outlet believe the Everton target is “noticeably dissatisfied” under Vincent Kompany at the Allianz Arena due to a lack of playing time.

Jackson has only made five starts in the Bundesliga and was even left out of the recent 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal entirely, despite being available to play.

BILD say other fringe players at Bayern Munich are understanding of their role and are working hard to impress Kompany, although the Chelsea loanee is the only one who is visibly annoyed. The article ends by stating that the £57m purchase option is not expected to be triggered.

It means Chelsea will presumably look to sell the 24-year-old when he returns to London this summer, giving Everton a good chance of signing the international colleague of Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye.

In our view, we have no idea what Jackson was expecting at Bayern Munich. Harry Kane is the talisman of the side and also one of the first names on the teamsheet, as well as a simply prolific striker with 43 goals in 36 games so far this season.

Kompany also typically fields just one striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation, so there was no way the Senegalese striker could expect to start on a weekly basis.

If not Nicolas Jackson, another Chelsea striker could join Everton in Liam Delap

Chelsea look likely to be the source of a new striker for David Moyes.

If Jackson either ends up impressing Liam Rosenior or moves elsewhere, Everton also hold an interest in Liam Delap – who is yet to truly convince people he belongs at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea beat Everton to the England U21 international when agreeing a £30m fee with Ipswich last summer, despite Moyes personally speaking to the 23-year-old about a move to Merseyside.

With only three goals in 31 appearances for Chelsea so far, Delap looks set to depart unless he embarks on a stunning run of form between now and the end of the season.
