Tottenham star Micky van de Ven is wanted by Manchester United.
Tottenham Hotspur are in a precarious position heading into the final 11 games of the Premier League season.
Spurs suffered yet another defeat on home soil, a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Arsenal, which makes for a terrible run of form as they have only two league wins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium all season. The Lilywhites are currently 16th in the standings, only four points above the relegation zone. However, given their downward spiral, relegation is a real possibility, especially considering the tough fixtures run-in they have.
Supporters are increasingly worried that their dismal results and potential relegation could lead key players to want out of Tottenham this summer transfer window. There has been speculation surrounding the future of Micky van de Ven in recent months. The Dutchman has been Spurs’ standout performer this season, contributing strongly at both ends of the pitch. Given the consistency he has shown at N17 and his high potential, he is highly coveted by the biggest clubs in the world.
Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Micky van de Ven links to Manchester United
Recent reports suggest Manchester United are also interested in signing Micky van de Ven, who has not yet committed to extending his stay at Tottenham. Despite plans to prioritise midfield reinforcements amid Casemiro’s departure at the end of the season, Man United want to add Van de Ven to their defensive roster for the 2026/27 campaign and beyond.
However, transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on the van de Ven to Man United links.
“On Van de Ven and Manchester United, these rumours around in the last 24 to 48 hours, coming from England, I received many questions, but guys, I’m not aware about anything really serious or concrete at this stage,” Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel.
Van de Ven will leave if Tottenham go down
Van de Ven has been one of the few positives for Tottenham this campaign, scoring four goals in 25 Premier League appearances and captaining the side on a few occasions in the absence of Cristian Romero. The Netherlands international’s aggressive defending, pace, power, technical ability and leadership skills have made him a leading target for several top European clubs.
The 24-year-old is eager to compete at the highest level and challenge for major honours, and with Man United inching closer towards Champions League qualification under interim boss Michael Carrick, INEOS feel they could convince Van de Ven to make the move to Old Trafford.
Should the Lilywhites manage to preserve their top-flight status, they can have some hope of clinging onto Van de Ven. But, if they go down, which is a scary prospect to even think about, then the club can kiss goodbye to the Dutch star in the summer.
