Newcastle United latest news: Eddie Howe has provided a major injury update ahead of his side’s clash with Everton in the Premier League.

Howe’s side will enter Saturday’s game on the back of a win in the Champions League over Qarabag. Having led 6-1 from the first-leg away in Baku, the Magpies’ 3-2 win over their Azerbaijani opponents at St James’ Park secured a 9-3 aggregate win and ensured that they would carry on the momentum from four positive results on the road.

Wins on the road against Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Qarabag in Azerbaijan helped build momentum for Howe’s side before a spirited performance away at the Etihad Stadium last weekend. With the second of five home matches in a row to come this weekend, the Magpies will be keen on continuing that momentum when they welcome the Toffees to Tyneside.

Everton, though, will be tough opponents for them on Saturday afternoon and enjoy a decent record at St James’ Park over the last couple of seasons. Newcastle United have not beaten Everton since 2022 when a Miguel Almiron goal separated the two sides.

They did, though, defeat Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium back in November in the reverse fixture.

Newcastle United injury news v Everton

This weekend, they go in search of a Premier League double over Everton with Howe still having to deal with a number of injury issues in his squad. However, there is hope that Ramsey will be back available for selection this weekend.

“We hope that he will train today,” Howe confirmed when asked about the midfielder. “So, yeah, fingers crossed for tomorrow.”

A return for Ramsey will be a major boost for Howe with the former Aston Villa man enjoying the best form of his time as a Newcastle United player before being struck down with injury. A ‘minor hamstring injury’ was the reason provided for Ramsey’s surprise absence from Howe’s matchday squad on Tuesday night.

Tino Livramento, meanwhile, will not feature this weekend - but the former Southampton man has entered the final stages of his recovery from his own hamstring injury. Livramento hasn’t featured since their FA Cup clash against Bournemouth in January but he could be back before the next international break.

“I think Tino will be early March,” Howe confirmed. “We think he's still on track for that. He's done really well.

“He's been training now, not with us, but separately running for a period of time. I think he's done a really good body of work behind him.

“So, I think when he comes back, he'll be in a good place. I don't think it's too long to wait.”

Elsewhere, Bruno Guimaraes will miss out again this weekend as he continues his recovery from a muscle injury. Guimaraes is currently away in Brazil recovering from a muscle injury he suffered against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.

Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth also remain sidelined with ankle and knee injuries respectively. Lewis Miley will also not feature against the Toffees.
