Edon Zhegrova
Pisa, Italy 27th December 2025: Edon Zhegrova of Juventus FC during the Serie A 2025-26 football match between Pisa Sporting Club vs Juventus FC at the Cetilar Arena
Late in the winter transfer window, Everton made an attempt to sign Juventus’ Edon Zhegrova.
The move failed, with the winger having only joined Juventus in the summer of 2025. He hasn’t really made a mark, having recovered from a serious injury in the first few months of the stint.
The 26-year-old was the centre of attention in Italy this week for the wrong reasons. Juventus nearly mounted an unlikely comeback against Galatasaray in the Champions League playoffs. A big chance in extra time fell to Zhegrova but he blew it from close range.
This cost Juve the game and the player attracted criticism. Now, his future in Turin is uncertain and Everton are back in the fray.
Summer approach likely from Everton
Calciomercato IT report today about the Kosovo international’s future, stating Zhegrova is certain to leave Juve in the summer.
The Premier League is a likely destination for him. The report confirms that Everton tried to sign him in the winter market but the deal fell through as there was limited time left.
Now, a move is back on the cards. The Toffees will reconnect with Juventus over a deal in the summer and a transfer is much likelier at that point.
There is no mention of interest from other clubs, which can prove key for David Moyes’ side.
Why Zhegrova would be a risky move
Physically, the right-winger seems to have declined quite a bit in the last few months. The knee injury has had an impact, with Luciano Spalletti barely trusting him with starting games.
Moreover, Zhegrova’s time at Lille felt much different. He was a constant threat on the right, took defenders on, showed his technical class and was quicker than he is now. The attacker feels a bit more withdrawn in Italy and fitness has had a role to play.
That is why he would be a risky signing for Everton. He does boast a tremendous left foot which can create something out of nothing. But the red flags have been obvious this season.
