Sources close to Lingard reveal Corinthians are now one of the leading contenders for his signature and should a move materialise, the Englishman would link up with former Manchester United teammate Memphis Depay at the Arena Corinthians.
Corinthians have been champions of Brazil 31 times and their list of illustrious ex-players includes Socrates and Ronaldo Nazario.
Lingard has been without a club since leaving South Korean side FC Seoul in December.
The Englishman spent just under two years in Seoul, scoring 19 goals in 67 appearances for the club.
Lingard was planning to return to England for family reasons and had initial interest from Championship automatic promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough and Coventry City, but it now appears his next move will be abroad.

While Lingard is getting towards the latter years of his career, his experience at the top level would make him a big-name addition for Corinthians.
The 33-year-old boasts 232 Manchester United appearances as well as 182 outings in the Premier League, while he has also scored six goals in 32 caps for his country.
Lingard will hope to recreate his impressive goal contribution numbers in South Korea at his next club.
