Manchester City have discovered their last-16 Champions League opponents
Manchester City will play Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The Blues secured a straight path into the knockout stages having finished eighth in the League Phase. That meant Pep Guardiola's men avoided the play-off round and guaranteed themselves a home second leg in next month's last-16 tie.
City knew they would face one of either Bodo/Glimt, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Benfica, and that quartet was narrowed to two after this week's play-offs. Bodo stunned Inter with a 2-1 victory in the San Siro to complete a 5-2 aggregate success while Madrid, who won 1-0 against Benfica in the first leg, secured their passage to the last-16 with a 2-1 second leg victory.

Friday's draw also saw City allocated a set spot in the draw, meaning it is now possible to plot their path all the way to the final.
Should City progress into the last eight they will face the winners of Bayern Munich vs Atalanta .
City's potential semi-final opponents will come from the ties involving PSG vs Chelsea and Liverpool vs Galatasaray. Arsenal are on the other side of the draw so the Blues cannot meet the Gunners until the final in Budapest. The Gunners face Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16 and if they win will play either Bodo/Glimt or Sporting Lisbon.
The last-16 fixture dates have yet to be confirmed and City's Premier League trip to West Ham, currently scheduled for 12.30pm, will move to an 8pm kick off if the Blues are away in Europe on the Wednesday before.
The last-16 ties take place next month with the first leg on March 10/11 and the second a week later. City, by virtue of finishing higher in the League Phase, will be at home in the second leg.
The quarter finals are on April 7/8 and 14/15 with the semi-finals following on April 28/29 and May 5/6. The final is in Budapest on Saturday, May 30.
City are one of six English sides still in the draw after Newcastle United came through the play-off round on Tuesday. Arsenal, , and Tottenham are also still in the hunt.
