February 27 – More than 300 runners turned out at the London Marathon Community Track in Stratford as West Ham United staged their latest Track Night, backed by long-time partner Lyca Mobile.

With the London Stadium looming in the background, the free 5k drew a mix of local runners – from regulars chasing PBs to newcomers easing back in. First-team midfielder Tomáš Souček also showed face, joining the warm-up, offering a few tips in a brief Q&A and posing for the inevitable pre-run photos.

The session was led by club coaches and local running group Mackyard Events, who provided pacing support across the field.

Track Nights are becoming a steady fixture in the club’s community calendar, offering open-access sessions aimed at getting east London moving in a structured but low-pressure setting. With two events held in 2025, the initiative blends sponsor activation with genuine local engagement.

The message was simple enough: running brings people together.

Prem Sivasamy, Deputy Chairman at Lyca Mobile, said: “We are proud to sponsor and support West Ham’s community initiatives, and events like the Hammers Track Night are a great example of how sport can bring people together and promote healthier lifestyles. It’s fantastic to see the positive impact these initiatives have, and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership with the club to create meaningful opportunities in sport, education and personal development for people across East London.”

With popularity in running across London and the UK soaring in recent years, the club have pledged to continue their commitment to running focused events in the future, in an effort to have a positive outlook across its local community beyond just matchdays.

West Ham United Executive Director, Nathan Thompson, said: “For more than a decade, Lyca Mobile and West Ham United have worked side by side to create meaningful opportunities through sport, particularly for those in our local community who benefit most from access and inclusion. This long-standing partnership is built on shared values and a genuine desire to make a positive difference beyond the pitch. We are proud to continue that journey together with Lyca Mobile supporting Track Night, which was an incredible success, with community at its heart.“
