Little spent a couple of seasons with the Whites and started the win against Nottingham Forest on the final day of the 2017/18 campaign as Phil Parkinson’s side avoided relegation from the Championship.
The defender racked up more than 500 appearances throughout his career, which also included spells at Wolves, Peterborough and Bristol City among others.
Little had recently been playing for Penybont in the Cymru Premier but has now decided to hang up his boots.
He wrote on social media: “20 years in the professional game…. even more since I could walk. It’s time to call it a day.
“7 parent clubs, 2 loans and international call-ups, 550+ games, 3 Promotions, 2 Cup wins, 2 European tours, 1 League title.
“Carra said, ‘Leave the football before it leaves you’. I think it’s packing its bags for me!
“But Colesy (David Coles) always said, ‘Litts, they can never take that away from you’. And he’s bang on.
“That’s as big as the speech gets – other than a massive thank you to the lot of you. My little girl’s got some other plans for me now. Thanks again, Litts.”
Little began his career at Wolves and had several stints out on loan before heading to Peterborough in 2010.
The defender also had a spell at Bristol City before heading to Bolton in 2017. He featured regularly under Parkinson that season, including the final day drama against Forest, but only made a handful of appearances in the following campaign amid the club’s issues off the pitch.
He went on to have spells at Bristol Rovers and Yeovil before heading to Wales. A couple of weeks ago, Penybont confirmed he had departed the club to pursue “a new career opportunity”.
