Man United handed Marcus Rashford transfer demand amid Barcelona concern

Marcus Rashford could leave Manchester United at a price that is below his possible market value in the summer after falling out of favour at Old Trafford

Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe has claimed that Marcus Rashford could be worth triple the £26million fee included in his loan spell at Barcelona - as long as he is consistent with his performances.

The forward left United in the summer to join Barcelona on loan until the end of the season. Rashford has scored 10 goals and assisted another 13, with it widely reported that the Catalan club want to make the switch permanent in the summer.

However, reports in Spain have suggested that Hansi Flick's men will look to bring the fee down in an attempt to sign him for less. If an agreement can't be reached, the possibility of another loan move including an obligation has also been touted.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on the England international and have been backed to make a move should he not sign permanently for Barcelona. The Mirror reported earlier this month that bosses at United have been left regretting the deal to let Rashford sign Barcelona for a possible £26m.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will just cough up £26m or not in the summer, but Sharpe believes United should not even entertain their approach to lower the fee. “I don’t think the club should be accepting anything less than £26m," he told MEN Sport (via BetBrain).

"I think he’s an absolute worldie of a player when he’s on his day. If he can be consistent, he’s worth treble that at least. It’s a difficult one because he’s an unbelievable player, it wasn’t working out for him before he left, he didn’t look happy, so if his heart is set on leaving the club and Barcelona don’t want to pay £26m, bring him back.

"Sell him to someone else that does want to pay the fee you’re looking for. Is there a way back for him at United? I’m not sure. If he would be happy to come back and work hard to be part of the squad, there’s no reason why he can’t come back.

"He would be an asset to the squad. But if he’s unhappy and can’t produce his best, then he’ll have to go elsewhere. But I wouldn’t be accepting less than £26m that’s for sure.”
