CM: Milan pondering Casemiro move with Man Utd exit imminent – the details

Another source has confirmed that AC Milan could consider a move for Casemiro, who is expected to leave Manchester United.

According to Calciomercato.com, Casemiro recently discussed Serie A and Italian football with Luka Modric, the lynchpin of Milan’s midfield and his former team-mate at Real Madrid, where they formed an elite midfield together.

After a remarkable spell at Real Madrid from 2015 to 2022 in which he won five Champions League titles, Casemiro has been through a turbulent adventure at Manchester United. He has amassed a total of 140 matches, 21 goals and two domestic cups (FA Cup and League Cup) with the Red Devils.

After four seasons and at the age of 34, the Brazilian’s adventure at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end. Both the player and Manchester United believe the time has come to go their separate ways, especially with his deal expiring.

Three hypotheses

Casemiro could consider three options for his future: One: a return to Brazil, perhaps after winning a World Cup with one of his mentors, Carlo Ancelotti, on the bench. Two: move to a European league that is less demanding than the Premier League in terms of pace. Three: a pay day in Saudi Arabia.

In Serie A, there’s no doubt that a player with Casemiro’s experience and characteristics could be useful to many clubs. In particular, Milan ‘could be at the forefront’, either reuniting him with Modric or using Casemiro as his heir. Juventus are another potential destination.

The issue is that Casemiro gets €18m net per season salary at Manchester United, so he would need a big pay cut to move to Italy. Taking into account the player’s age, experience and value, a two-year contract worth €5-6m net per season would likely be the minimum required.
