Edwin van der Sar played alongside fellow United legend Scholes in the final period of his prolific playing career after his move to Old Trafford from Fulham in 2005.
Before he crossed paths with Scholes as a club teammate, Van der Sar was all too familiar with the legendary exploits of Zinedine Zidane at Serie A side Juventus.

Zinedine Zidane is widely regarded as one of the best players of all time and the 53-year-old iconic Frenchman had a sensational impact for both club and country.
The former Real Madrid manager lifted France Football’s Ballon d’Or award in 1998 and the World Cup with France amid a remarkable trophy-laden playing career.

Neville asked fellow Man Utd legend Van der Sar: “Zidane or Scholes?”
Van der Sar included Scholes in his all-time teammate XI and the 55-year-old Dutchman backed the United icon ahead of Real Madrid legend Zidane.
“Okay, Scholes,” he said.
Responding to Van der Sar, Neville added: “Oh wow, Scholes over Zidane? Wow.”

Scholes lifted an incredible 11 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, three FA Cups and two League Cups during his two spells at Man Utd.
The 51-year-old iconic former Man Utd midfielder initially retired in 2011 before Scholes walked back on his retirement and made his return to Old Trafford in 2012.
Scholes was part of the last Man Utd team to lift the Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012-13 campaign before calling it time on his career again.
The ex-England midfielder left Old Trafford in the same 2013 window as legendary former United manager Ferguson retired as head coach at the Premier League club.
