A report from French outlet Media Foot claims that United are one of multiple top flight clubs across Europe keeping a close eye on Rennes midfielder Djaoui Cisse.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant rise to prominence in France after being the “surprise package” of France’s U21 European Championship campaign last summer.
It’s claimed no decision has been made yet by the Ligue 1 club, who have plenty of suitors. Also named in the report are Bundesliga duo Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.
Cisse is currently tied down until 2030 at Roazhon Park, indicating it may take a big sum to prise him away from Rennes.

Cisse is one of the latest to come out of Rennes’ youth system and prove to be a bright talent. Covering a lot of ground in midfield, the French youth international looks excellent with the ball at his feet, able to carry well and progress his side up the field.
Output in the final third isn’t quite there at the moment with no goals or assists this season. But, you can absolutely see how he’d fit into Leeds’ athletic squad-building, while sprinkling in that quality on the ball too.
Rennes are so often a club to look at as a source of developing young talent. Raphinha joined Leeds for £17million from the Ligue 1 club, while Georginio Rutter broke through their youth system as well.
If Cisse is the talent that Leeds perceive him to be, he could be another masterstroke signing for us.
The fact that Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen are interested does suggest he’s a quality player. Both have previous for finding hidden gems in the market.
