Manchester United have been linked with a handful of Newcastle United players already this year, and now another name can be added to the list.
With Champions League football looking likely to return to Old Trafford and leaving St James’, Manchester United could go shopping in Newcastle.
United have been linked with signing Sandro Tonali as a potential midfield addition should Elliot Anderson be unattainable. Another suggested target is Anthony Gordon, who United are looking at as a winger, although this deal feels a little far-fetched.
Now, another Toon talent is attracting interest ahead of this summer.

Manchester United interest in signing Malick Thiaw
While the centre back position won’t be a complete priority for Manchester United this summer, some additions would be too good to turn down.
That would be the case for Newcastle and Germany defender Malick Thiaw, who is now mentioned as being on United’s list of targets.

This link comes from German journalist Christian Falk, who was asked on his YouTube channel whether he had heard anything about Thiaw to Bayern Munich.

Falk said, “That is not true.”
But admitted what he had heard regarding United.
“But at the moment, I think the situation is simply this: Malik Thiaw finds the Bundesliga appealing and would like to put himself in the spotlight there for the national team.
“That said, I’ve also heard that Manchester United are thinking about him. So for now, there’s really nothing from Bayern that we can report.”

Why Malick Thiaw might become a target higher up Manchester United’s list
United might not have expected to need a centre-back this summer, but this season has proven the current crop cannot be relied on.
Matthijs de Ligt has been out for months with a back injury, which doesn’t seem like something he will bounce back from quickly. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez is out injured again after being excellent after his injury comeback.
Harry Maguire is going to be 33, and therefore, we can’t expect next season to be another high-level campaign.
This leaves just Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.
So adding Thiaw would be a smart decision, especially with United’s game load next season going to be much greater.
