Liverpool may have the chance to rekindle their January interest in Denzel Dumfries this summer as he pushes for a move to the Premier League.
After injuries to Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong left Arne Slot without a recognised right-back, the Reds reportedly made an enquiry over the availability of Dumfries.
Inter dismissed any notion of the Dutchman leaving, and he has since returned to the pitch following three months out injured. According to Corriere dello Sport on Friday, though, Dumfries’ new agent has been tasked with earning him a Premier League transfer this summer.

With a release clause set to come into play and Liverpool still not fully sorted at right-back, could the Reds return for Dumfries?
Liverpool could still make Dumfries play
As per reports from last month, Liverpool’s attempt to sign Dumfries was on loan, with the Reds trying to cover for Bradley’s injury until the end of the season.
While this would have made some sense, the 30-year-old only returned from injury for Inter this week. As a result, it could have been that Liverpool had an eye on him for a wider role.
Bradley cannot be trusted to say fit, unfortunately, and with Frimpong more suited to a more attacking role, there is some sense in acquiring another right-back to challenge with the Northern Irishman.

That player could certainly be Dumfries. Although he is now the wrong side of 30, the Netherlands international is available for around £22m, making him well worth a punt.
According to Corriere dello Sport, it is the player’s wish to join the Premier League this season and with a very manageable release clause, he will surely be granted that dream.

Signing another right-back is unlikely to be right at the top of Liverpool’s priorities this summer, but as they’ve seen this season, what they have currently may not really be enough.
Having enquired after him as recently as one month ago, the Reds clearly think Dumfries has what it takes to fit into Slot’s system, and while the parameters will be different in the summer, a move cannot be ruled out as a result.

Dumfries’ Premier League move looks fairly certain
Having spent the last four years in Italy with Inter, a summer move to England looks to be beckoning for Dumfries.
If that is not to Liverpool, then it will likely be to one of the Premier League’s other Champions League clubs.
With a contract running for another two years at San Siro, there is of course a chance that Dumfries also stays put. But the release clause coupled with his wish to leave seem to make this a fairly foregone conclusion.
If they decide they do need another right-back to add to the party, then we think joining Liverpool makes complete sense for Dumfries. They tried for him once before, and things could be lining up for them to do so again.
