Newcastle United head into today's Premier League clash with Everton hoping for some positive news on the injury front, although Eddie Howe has five players ruled out.
The Magpies can take a big step towards European qualification in the coming week, with home games against the Toffees and Manchester United coming up.
Both sides are currently ahead of Newcastle in the Premier League table, but a strong end to the campaign could change the pcture for Howe's men.
United hope to have Jacob Ramsey back in the squad after he missed the Champions League win over Qarabag with a tight hamstring.
Howe is confident the former Aston Villa man will shake off the minor issue, and join Malick Thiaw back in the squad, with the German available after his one-match Champions League ban.
Captain Bruno Guimaraes remains on the sidelines, with the Brazilian set to miss a considerable chunk of the final games. He is expected to return in April, after spending time recovering from a hamstring injury in Brazil.
Fellow long-term absentee Fabian Schar also has a April return date in mind as he builds up fitness following surgery on an ankle injury picked up against Leeds United in January.
Newcastle could soon have Tino Livramento back in action, with the England defender closing in on a return. Howe confirmed that although he's not training with the group yet, he is on course for a March comeback.
Young midfielder Lewis Miley will miss today's game as he makes slow progress in his recovery from a thigh problem. Howe revealed on Friday that United were being cautious with the youngster, to avoid potentially ending his season early.
That's the fate that has befallen Emil Krafth, as the Swede won't play again this term after picking up a knee injury on international duty in November.
Everton boss David Moyes has relatively few issues, although Man City loanee Jack Grealish is out for the season having undergone ankle surgery. It's a big blow to his World Cup hopes, and to Everton's attacking options.
They suffered another blow up front this week when Charly Alcaraz was ruled out with an injury picked up in training. Moyes confirmed yesterday that he would miss several weeks, saying: "Charly has got an injury which is probably going to keep him out for three or four weeks, we think. He picked it up in the last minute of training on Sunday, so he was a bit unfortunate."
Back-up goalkeeper Mark Travers missed their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last Monday but could return to the squad this weekend.
