Barcelona have reached a final decision on the transfer of Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis following his loan spell from Manchester United, as per reports. The Spanish giants signed the England international on a temporary basis from his boyhood club, looking to revive his career.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via GOAL), Barcelona have decided to sign the 28-year-old at the end of his loan stint at the Spotify Camp Nou. They had been deliberating on whether to sign the Englishman, particularly considering the fee involved in his transfer.

The reigning LaLiga champions agreed on a €30 million option to buy Rashford permanently when they reached a loan agreement with Manchester United last summer. They have now decided to pay the agreed fee in three payments of €10 million over the next three years to allow them sign the forward permanently. They are not expected to have problems agreeing on personal terms with Rashford, who has enjoyed his time in Spain.

Marcus Rashford appears to have found his best form with Barcelona, with ten goals and 13 assists to his name across all competitions. The forward has struck up a good partnership with the other forwards for La Blaugrana, helping the side reach the summit of LaLiga.

Nothing is finalized in Barcelona's intent to sign Rashford permanently, as they are yet to receive an approval for the transfer of the forward. While the forward wishes to stay with the club, it remains to be seen if his salary can be adapted to meet the financial regulations of the Spanish league.

Manchester United legend speaks out on Rashford future amid Barcelona talks

Manchester United legend Lee Sharpe has shared his thoughts on the future of Marcus Rashford after his impressive loan spell at Barcelona. The forward joined the Spanish giants after facing the axe at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim in late 2024.

Sharpe admitted to BetBrain that he loves watching Rashford perform at his best level, enjoying his football and giving his all. He pointed out that if the forward would produce half-hearted efforts, he does not want the forward to return to Manchester United after his loan.

“I love watching Marcus Rashford when Marcus Rashford is in full pomp, playing well, enjoying his football and working hard for the team - off the ball as well as on it. If he feels like he could come back and be the Marcus Rashford of old and is prepared to give 100 per cent in every game, then I’d take him back in a heartbeat. But it’s whether he feels like he is welcome.

“He certainly wasn’t producing the sort of form that he was earlier on in his career. If he’s going to come in and be a bit lazy and a bit half-hearted, like he was before he left, then I don’t want him. I don’t think United can carry a player like that. If he wants to come back and work his socks off and produce magic like he was a few seasons ago, then I’d be delighted to see him back", he said (via GOAL).

Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United in January 2025, spending the second half of the 2024-25 season at Villa Park. The Englishman appears set to join Barcelona permanently after impressing under manager Hansi Flick this season.
