Rapid Man Utd star wants to leave this summer, he's fed up - report

Manchester United star Altay Bayindir is fed up at Old Trafford and wants to leave this summer, according to Football Insider journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Turkey international started the season as the Red Devils number one goalkeeper under Ruben Amorim, but quickly lost his place in the side to Senne Lammens and hasn't featured since the 3-1 defeat to Brentford back in September.

The 27-year-old will enter the final 12 months of his contract with the Premier League giants this summer, having signed a four-year deal in 2023, and amid reports that he is set to return to his homeland when the transfer window re-opens, it has emerged that he is very unhappy at United.

Bayindir Very Unhappy at Man Utd

Bayindir, who has been described as 'very fast', has been the back-up goalkeeper at Old Trafford ever since arriving, playing deputy to Andre Onana and now Lammens in the first-team.

That has restricted him to just 17 appearances in total for the club, and according to O'Rourke, it's a situation that has been building up over a period of time, with the player keen to leave to play more regularly.

“I wouldn’t be surprised. I think Bayindir obviously will have been frustrated at what’s happened at Man United," he said.

“He obviously started the season at the starting goalkeeper for United, but once Lammens has got his nod he’s taken the opportunity and is undoubtedly the number one.

“I think Bayindir has been frustrated at Old Trafford for quite a while now. He’s found himself playing a bit-part role as backup and cover.

“I think the player himself would be very much open to a move away from Man United in summer to get his career back on track. He wants to be playing regularly at this stage of his career.

“Bayindir has been keen to get out and move on for the sake of his career for a while. There was talk he could have moved in January, but United didn’t have cover.

“I think summer gives the right time for everybody to sort out everything. can bring in cover and Bayindir can move on in search of regular first team football.”

Time for Bayindir to Leave

It's quite clear that when Bayindir arrived he was seen as a back-up goalkeeper, and he hasn't done enough in his performances to change that narrative.

His spell at the start of the campaign was littered with errors, so it was no shock that he was replaced, and this summer seems to be the perfect time for all involved to do their separate ways.

GIVEMESPORT asked ChatGPT who a good replacement to be the new number two goalkeeper could be at Man Utd, and this was its response:

• Anthony Patterson – Championship keeper tracked as backup option.

• Marco Carnesecchi – consistent Serie A keeper linked as upgrade.

• Vanja Milinković-Savić – Torino stopper considered for No.2 role.
