Eddie Howe will have at least one player added to his Newcastle United squad for this afternoon's Premier League clash with Everton, as Malick Thiaw makes a welcome return after injury.

Jacob Ramsey could well join him after missing the win over Qarabag with the slight hamstring issue, with the former Aston Villa midfielder expected to shake off a minor problem.

However, Howe will still be without Bruno Guimaraes, Tino Livramento and Fabian Schar as he looks to kickstart United's push for European places in the final third of the season.

He must decide whether to stick with the formation that has worked well in recent weeks, with Anthony Gordon leading the attacking ahead of a deep-lying Nick Woltemade, with Yoane Wissa back to push for a place.

With that in mind, here are the starting XIs our NUFC writers would pick today - and your chance to name your side.

Lee Ryder

I'd stick with the tried and trusted, although I'd rest one or two bodies as well, with Man United on the horizon. Nick Pope returns between the sticks after Aaron Ramsdale's mixed showing against Qarabag.

Malick Thiaw also goes back in in after a ban and I'd pair him with Sven Botman, reserving Dan Burn for the clash with Man United, meaning Lewis Hall starts on the left.

If Jacob Ramsey is fit he starts alongside Sandro Tonali and Joelinton. Harvey Barnes back on the left and Jacob Murphy on the right with Anthony Gordon as the central striker.

Keep Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa in reserve too. There is a big run of games to come.

My NUFC XI: Pope, Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Hall, Ramsey, Tonali, Joelinton, Barnes, Murphy, Gordon.

Stuart Jamieson

A couple of big decisions today, not least in the centre of defence, where I'm going for Sven Botman over Dan Burn. It's nothing to do with form, but Burn is due a break and Botman needs to regain his match fitness.

I would stick with Nick Woltemade in a 'midfield' role, with Anthony Gordon through the middle, although I have reservations. The big German needs to operate further up the pitch, and with Tonali and Joelinton behind him, it's the ideal set-up to do just that.

Anthony Elanga comes in on the right, with Harvey Barnes on the left in what should be a dangerous attacking line-up.

My NUFC XI: Pope, Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Hall, Tonali, Joelinton, Elanga, Woltemade, Barnes, Gordon
