Dinos Mavropanos thinks West Ham signed a 'great' player who really wants to help the team

Konstantinos Mavropanos has hailed West Ham United for signing Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea on Deadline Day.

Disasi has already made a huge impact at West Ham United, helping Nuno Espirito Santo’s side keep two clean sheets in the three Premier League games he’s played thus far.

How impressed have you been with West Ham’s new man? 👏

And should we look to sign him permanently?

While Hammers News understands that Disasi’s long-term future at West Ham is uncertain, the Frenchman has certainly hit the ground running in the immediate term.

Disasi has struck up a promising partnership with Mavropanos, who believes the Irons have a “great” player on their hands.

Mavropanos hails Disasi as a “great player”

Speaking to West Ham’s official website before Saturday’s clash with Liverpool, the Greek international said: “I think all the players – Jean-Clair [Todibo], Axel and Max [Kilman] – we work really hard and the last couple of weeks we could just show that in the games as well.

“With the arrival of Axel, I think he’s a great player as well. He helps the team a lot. He wants to give the best for the team.

“So, it’s just like the work that we do in training just comes into the games as well and this helps us a lot.”

Mavropanos and Disasi have struck up quite the partnership. Over the past three Premier League games, no one has conceded fewer than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side (1).

Finish this sentence: Axel Disasi is West Ham’s BEST DEFENDER since…

Signing Disasi was a risk from West Ham. The Frenchman had not played a game at senior level for close to eight months by the time he arrived in east London, having been relegated into the “bomb squad” at Chelsea.

However, things have worked out so far. Prior to his arrival, the Irons had one of the worst defensive records across Europe’s major five leagues.

Disasi has impressed West Ham fans, many of whom have expressed a desire to keep him at the club permanently.

That will surely depend on whether Nuno’s side can secure Premier League safety, but that feels a lot more possible with the former Monaco defender operating alongside a resurgent Mavropanos.

If West Ham manage to stay in the Premier League, the reported £1.7million they spent to loan Disasi for the final few games of the season will look like little short of a genuine bargain.

Signing him on a permanent basis would surely have to become a priority if the Hammers do manage to avoid relegation.
