Another high profile exit at St James' Park could lead to a change in plan behind the scenes

Newcastle United could yet postpone plans to change their club crest until a move to their new training ground is confirmed.
Talks to move to a new training HQ near Newcastle Airport remain ongoing behind the scenes after United identified a plot of land they feel fits in with their project. As reported first on Chronicle Live two weeks ago, the Magpies had paused their plan to make any immediate alterations to the club badge.
Fans are set to discuss the matter further with CEO David Hopkinson who is aware of the sensitivity that surrounds the much loved crest. Newcastle have not made a change to the badge they have had on their shirts since 1988 and Hopkinson had it put to him that leaving the badge as it is or making minor changes would be an "easy win" with the fanbase.
Back in May, Newcastle's digital chief Dan Ginger held a presenation in front of journalists at the media centre to discuss why the badge could be changed with fan blessing. But Ginger has now left St James' Park and with former commercial supremo Peter Silverstone another part of the team pushing for a change also no longer on board, the project has been parked for now.
Director of Brand, Marketing and Digital media Ginger announced his exit on Linkedin.com this week three years after being introduced alongside Silverstone as part of the commercial team.
United announced plans on May 9 last year when the Magpies stated changes were necessary in order to "keep pace" with the modern world. However, the news was not met with universal approval, while some fans feared an unpopular revamp to the much-loved crest that has adorned Newcastle jerseys and club walls since 1988.
What is now being considered is whether a move to a new training ground or even the new stadium would be the best time to bring in a new crest. That would mark the dawn of a new era in more ways than one but for many fans it may also come as a relief, not least after the launch of a series of Adidas products with the current crest on it this week.
The club are understood to have enjoyed another big payday on that front with the current Adidas tracksuits and merchandise selling like hot cakes.
Anthony Gordon contract length truth
The England forward has been linked with a £75m move to Arsenal with Eddie Howe shooting down talk on Friday that the ex-Everton man was unsettled.
The 25-year-old had told Chronicle Live from Baku last week that he was focused on nothing but becoming a Newcastle legend. Indeed, Gordon insisted he thought talk of a move to any of Newcastle's rivals was "a load or rubbish" when pressed last week.
It has now also become clear that Gordon is tied down to 2030 on his current deal, protecting both the player and the club. Newcastle don't want to sell Gordon in the first place but if the star has a good World Cup and does ask for a move, the Magpies would be able to demand much more than what seems like a paltry £75m.
Newcastle await tickets decision ahead of Nou Camp clash
Barca are finally back in their home ground, the Nou Camp, after spending the last couple of seasons playing at the Olympic Stadium and Estadi Johan Cruyff.
However, while the iconic venue will host Newcastle's decisive Champions League last 16 clash, the capacity has been restricted to just 45,000. When the Nou Camp is completed, or the Spotify Nou Camp as it is known these days, it will have a capacity of 105,000.
For now, it is less than half of that, and Newcastle will only get an initial 2,000 tickets. There are suggestions that this may be increased, with club officials waiting for the nod for extra spaces.
