Former West Ham star urges former club to be ‘like Leeds’ during Premier League relegation…

West Ham

It is clear that the battle for the last relegation spot will include West Ham, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. But with 11 games to go nothing is guaranteed, and even a team like Burnley could upset the odds.

Out of the teams near the relegation zone, it looks like Leeds United are the only ones with some consistency. Spurs and Nottingham Forest recently fired their coaches, bringing in new faces at this point of the season. It could take some time for them to adjust, but their clubs needed to take the rest with less than 13 games to go.

There are six points separating teams near the bottom of the table, which most likely means the relegation race could be decided on the final day.

Former West Ham man makes Leeds United admission

Former West Ham star Scott Minto has praised Leeds for their run of form in the last couple of weeks. He thinks West Ham can learn a lot from this, and not lose crucial games while dropping points.

“West Ham have to get something out of this game (against Liverpool) because I really think they’ve turned the corner after that Wolves game in particular, but the Forest loss as well. I think the results have been better, they’ve got some very difficult games coming up, so on paper, the Bournemouth game at home is one that they should be winning, but Bournemouth have done really well even with selling Antoine Semenyo, so it’s not easy but West Ham, like Leeds are doing, even if you’re not winning, you need to not lose and they need to find a way to not lose this match (against Liverpool).”

Daniel Farke’s methods have been effective

Leeds do not go into games looking to draw, their gameplan changes depending on the opponent. Sometimes they dominate the ball and create chances, but lack the finishing edge. And other times, they have to comeback from goals down to rescue a result. Daniel Farke has brought solidity in the team to balance out the attacking style – the Whites were conceding a lot in games near the end of the year. Now, they have had a run of games where they have managed to keep the opponent to half chances just like with Aston Villa last weekend. West Ham could learn a thing or two from Leeds United as the season draws to a close.
