Wolves Player Ratings v Aston Villa: Big Blocks, Late Limbs, Midfield Masterclass
Jose Sa – 6
Would be a higher score but his distribution especially first half was off but made amends second half with a couple of good stops when called upon
Jackson Tchatchoua – 7
A shaky start with a couple of misplaced passes and looked lost going forward in the first half. Completely different player second half, strong defensively and better going forward. Hand in the opening goal picking out Armstrong.
Yerson Mosquera – 7
Love him or hate him when he is on it and focused he is a good player. Thought for the world he was going to see red after his antics in the first half with halftime probably coming at the right time. Colossus in the second half with some great tackles and putting his body on the line for the cause and was there to clear off the line before we made it 2-0.
Santiago Bueno – 7
Continues to be solid at the back with some crucial interceptions and blocks. Really reading the game well and helped keep Watkins and Abraham quiet.
Toti – 7
Could have done better with our only real chance in the first half and some sloppy moments in the first half in possession but another who grew into the game, won mostly everything in the air and backed up Hugo well on the left.
Hugo Bueno – 7
Continues his fine form. Full of running going forward and most importantly has stepped up in recent weeks defensively so much so I had completely forgotten Jadon Sancho was even on the pitch.
Andre – 7
When he is on form he is so good. Composed on the ball in tight spaces and surrounded by players and gets us out of a hole. Don’t let that fool you he is tenacious and not afraid to put his body on the line.
Joao Gomes – 9
Man of the match possibly his best performance of the season, a fabulous strike to break the deadlock a move he started with a lovely cheeky little nutmeg on Ross Barkley who had just come on. This was the Joao we know and love.
Jean-Richer Bellegarde – 7
Full of running and carried us up the pitch with the ball to relieve the pressure and linked up well. Always tires in the second half but a good performance.
Mateus Mane – 7
Since his early couple of games Mane has very much become a marked man. Opposition players get in tight and even double up on him. He is still creating and never afraid to get on the ball and beat a man.
Adam Armstrong – 8
Another assist from his best showing in a Wolves shirt. Led the line on his own full of running linked up play when he could and when moved into midfield when Tolu come on he chased back and gave everything until being replaced by Rodrigo towards the end.

Tolu Arokodare – 6
Had a break away which he decided to play in Joao Gomes which I would’ve liked him to go on his own but came on and did his job well to see out the window and keep the Villa defence occupied.
Angel Gomes – 6
Came on for the exhausted Andre on 89 mins and put in a great tackle to win the ball in the middle of pitch. Despite his size he puts himself about well.
Rodrigo Gomes – 7
Sealed the win to send Molineux wild. Great energy and tenacity as always from this very likable player. What he has to do to get a start at right wing back is anyones guess.
