Newcastle United v Everton early team and injury news as 8 out plus one major doubt

Newcastle United v Everton: Injury news affecting Eddie Howe and David Moyes’ teams ahead of their Premier League clash at St James’ Park (3pm kick-off).

Newcastle United return to Premier League action at St James’ Park this afternoon when they take on Everton.

The Magpies will complete a Premier League double over the Toffees with victory following their 4-1 triumph at the Hill Dickinson Stadium back in November. Whilst Eddie Howe’s side do have a number of injury issues to deal with, they do head into today’s game in decent form, but will be desperate for a win to continue their push for European qualification.

David Moyes, meanwhile, saw his side slip to defeat at home to Manchester United on Monday night. He has significantly fewer injury issues to deal with than his opposite number this afternoon and with Everton possessing a decent record on Tyneside in recent seasons.

Here, we take a look at the latest injury news affecting both camps ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with Everton at St James' Park.

Everton injury news v Newcastle United

Jack Grealish - out

Grealish has suffered a season-ending foot injury and won’t feature at St James’ Park this afternoon.

Charly Alcaraz - out

Moyes confirmed that Alcaraz, who scored the winner in this fixture last season, will be out for a number of weeks. Alcaraz missed Everton’s defeat to Manchester United on Monday and faces a race to be fit before the next international break.

Mark Travers - out

Travers has been ruled-out of action this afternoon with a finger injury. He likely would have only acted as a back-up to Jordan Pickford on Tyneside anyway.

Newcastle United injury news v Everton

Fabian Schar - out

Schar suffered an ankle ligament injury against Leeds United last month and has been ruled-out of action for the foreseeable future.

Emil Krafth - out

Krafth has undergone surgery on a knee injury and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. He will not feature against Everton this afternoon.

Tino Livramento - out

Livramento suffered a hamstring injury last month. A return date in March has been pencilled in for the defender, with Howe confirming this week that he is making good progress and ‘on track’ to return to the team very soon. He won’t feature this afternoon against the Toffees.

Bruno Guimaraes - out

Guimaraes suffered an injury late on against Spurs earlier this month and has not been seen in action since. It has since been revealed that the Brazilian will miss a substantial amount of matches and is not expected to return to action until after the next international break. An estimated eight to ten weeks on the sidelines will keep Guimaraes, who is currently back in Brazil receiving treatment, out of action until April.

Lewis Miley - out

Miley hasn’t featured since their draw with PSG in January with a leg injury continuing to keep him sidelined. Howe has urged caution over rushing the teenager back into action too quickly.

Jacob Ramsey - doubt

Ramsey missed the 3-2 win over Qarabag on Tuesday night with a ‘minor hamstring injury’. Howe confirmed on Friday that he was hopeful of having the £43m man back in contention to play this afternoon.
