Details have emerged from Anthony Gordon’s contract at Newcastle that would complicate a potential transfer to Manchester United in the summer.
Manchester United have been linked with several players ahead of the summer transfer window, including many targets from the Premier League.
It is understood that United will look to strengthen in the midfield once Casemiro leaves Old Trafford at the end of the season, but a left winger could also be on the agenda to bolster the options in attack.
Three players from Newcastle have been linked with a summer move to United, including Sandro Tonali and Malick Thiaw. Another suggested target is Anthony Gordon, although the chances of a deal being agreed between the two clubs for the winger are slim.

Anthony Gordon’s contract length revealed amid Man Utd rumours
Gordon has become a star at Newcastle following his 2023 transfer from Everton, where he spent most of his youth career.
The England international has scored 14 goals and registered five assists in 38 appearances so far this season.
It was previously understood that Gordon had just two years remaining on his current contract, but Sky Sports News revealed that the deal will run until 2030.

That means Gordon, 25, will be 29 by the time the deal expires.
A player who possesses the quality and versatility of Gordon would be a welcome addition to most teams, but Newcastle would demand a crazy amount of money for his signature.
Although he has 14 goals to his name this season, four of them were scored midweek against Qarabag, which isn’t enough to warrant the £75m price tag that has been touted in the media.
It would be bold to suggest that Gordon is a reliable source of goals.
There are big questions over Gordon’s consistency at the highest level, with most of his goal contributions coming in cup competitions this season.

Where should he rank in comparison to other central midfield targets?

Eddie Howe responds to Anthony Gordon transfer speculation
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was asked about speculation surrounding Gordon ahead of their Premier League match against Everton at St. James’ Park.
Howe stressed that he is not paying attention to the reports and urged Gordon to focus on his football.
“Only If you read it,” Howe said when asked if the rumours can cause a distraction.
“I don’t see 90% of it. It comes with the territory of being a top player and you have to put it out of your brain to focus on football.
“There is no time for distractions.”
Howe was then asked a follow-up question about how Newcastle couldn’t stop Alexander Isak from joining Liverpool last summer.
He added: “There is not a lot I can do about that. It’s news to me but we’re midseason and in the middle of some of the biggest games of his career.
“He has no time to look left or right and has to be fully focused on ahead.
“He has been in a good place.”
