Dwight McNeil will make his first appearance for Everton since his move to Crystal Palace fell through.
The 26-year-old was set to seal a last-minute transfer to Selhurst Park only for the loan, which would have contained an obligation for the deal to be made permanent in the summer for around £20m, to fall through in the final minutes of the winter transfer window.
McNeil, whose partner raised concerns over how the south London club had treated the midfielder as the transfer fell apart, has not kicked a ball in Royal Blue since that debacle.
He will start at Newcastle United, however, for the first time since he was substituted at half-time in the 1-1 home draw with Leeds United on January 26.
McNeil is one four changes made by David Moyes to the line-up he named for the 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United on Monday night.
Jake O’Brien, who was suspended for that match, makes an immediate return to the starting XI.
Vitalii Mykolenko is also back in the team, with Blues boss Moyes appearing set to start him at left-back, O’Brien at right-back and Jarrad Branthwaite in his preferred position of centre-back alongside James Tarkowski after operating as a left-back against Man United.
Beto will replace Thierno Barry up front with the shuffle leading to Michael Keane, Tim Iroegbunam and Harrison Armstrong also dropping out of the starting XI.
