SUNDERLAND (4-3-3):
6 Roefs: Made three excellent saves in the first half, but got himself caught in no-man’s land for Evanilson’s equaliser
7 Geertruida: Filled the gap left by Mukiele at right-back without any fuss – his versatility has been massive for Sunderland this season
8 BALLARD: Marked Kroupi out of the game and was equally as effective against Evanilson – his physicality shone through
6 Alderete: Did well for most of the game, but was outjumped by Evanilson at the back post for Bournemouth’s equaliser
7 Hume: Won his personal battle against the dangerous Rayan – won most of the tackles he went in for
6 Diarra: Made some useful breaks forward, but failed to convert the second-half chance that might have made the game safe
7 Xhaka: His return to the starting line-up was a massive factor in Sunderland’s improved display – led his team-mates through the game
7 Sadiki: Never stopped running at the heart of midfield – looked much better with Xhaka allowing him to push on
6 Talbi: Had some bright moments in the first half, but was beginning to fade by the time he was replaced midway through the second
7 Mayenda: Was excellent in the first half, holding up play and scoring with a volley – merited his place in the starting side
7 Le Fee: Produced some wonderful touches in the Bournemouth half – the pass that sent Diarra clear as a great one
Subs:
5 Traore (for Talbi, 69): Spent most of his time tracking back and helping out his defence
Angulo (for Xhaka, 76)
Isidor (for, Mayenda, 90+5)
(not used): Ellborg (gk), O’Nien, H Jones, Jen Jones, Rigg, Aleksic.
Man Of The Match: DAN BALLARD – The Sunderland centre-half was a towering presence at the heart of the back four.
