How Michael Carrick has 'blown away' observers at Man Utd since taking charge

Michael Carrick has been almost perfect since taking charge of Manchester United, with the improvements behind the scenes laying the ground for on-field excellence.

Five wins in six games under Michael Carrick has Champions League football looking like less of a pipe dream and actually completely feasible.

But Manchester United’s improvements are beyond simply being a new manager bounce; Carrick has restored belief and hope to a club Ruben Amorim stripped bare of positivity.

The on-field performances and tactics are a clear positive, but behind the scenes is where Carrick has really made changes to get the team back to a level fitting for Manchester United.

Have you been impressed with Michael Carrick’s coaching staff?

Would you keep them all if he becomes permanent?🤔

Michael Carrick’s intense training sessions have impressed onlookers at Carrington

Carrick changed the coaching staff at Carrington, which was the first big call he got right, adding experience and balance to the dressing room, which Amorim didn’t have.

As The Telegraph reports, Amorim’s staff consisted of inexperienced coaches who rarely questioned the head coach, given that they were his friends and not entirely qualified to be at such a prestigious club.

This is a massive contrast to Carrick’s staff, who he expects to speak up and tell him when he’s wrong; they are encouraged to speak their minds.

The article also details that Carrick and his coaches have completely changed the way training works, with shorter and sharper sessions lasting a maximum of 75 minutes.

Those who regularly observe training have been ‘blown away’ by the intensity, level, and quality shown during these sessions, which is a testament to the current staff.

Carrick and Co. may only be temporary at the moment, but the way things are going, there isn’t any other contender for the role.

Prove me wrong: Michael Carrick has already shown enough to become permanent Man United manager.

Ineos would be crazy to ignore Carrick as Manchester United boss

Carrick’s training sessions being quality is just the latest factor behind the former United midfielder being the clear standout leader to be the permanent head coach.

The players are playing for Carrick and clearly taking to his system, which simplifies football and probably makes it enjoyable to play again.

Carrick’s appointment has been green-lit by several United players, while the others have expressed their support on the pitch with performances.

The position is Carrick’s to lose right now, as Champions League football should almost certainly ensure he gets the job on a permanent basis, because in that case, any other manager would be a risk, no matter their experience.
