Premier League wrap: Drama galore as Bees earn late win

**Burnley**'s spirited fightback counted for nothing as Mikkel Damsgaard struck in injury time to earn **Brentford** a dramatic 4-3 victory at Turf Moor.

Bees boss Keith Andrew looked set to celebrate his new long-term deal with a comfortable win amid a mutinous atmosphere when first-half goals from Damsgaard, Igor Thiago and Kevin Schade put the visitors three up.

But an own goal from Michael Kayode at the end of the first half was followed by efforts from Jaidon Anthony and Zian Flemming, with the latter then seeing a fourth ruled out for the most marginal of offsides.

There was a cruel sting in the tail for the hosts, though, as three minutes into stoppage time Damsgaard tucked the ball into the bottom corner.

Still Burnley thought they had earned a point when, with the clock ticking towards 100 minutes, veteran Ashley Barnes found the net only for VAR to intervene again and the goal be ruled out for handball.

The three-point haul for Brentford means former Republic of Ireland international Andrews sees his side remain within touching distance of the Premier League's top six.

Thierno Barry came off the bench to fire **Everton** to victory at **Newcastle** for the second successive season in a dramatic conclusion to a madcap encounter.

Barry struck seconds after fellow substitute Jacob Murphy looked to have snatched a draw for the hosts to claim a 3-2 win and condemn the Magpies to a third successive league defeat at St James' Park, although it took a stunning late save by Jordan Pickford to seal it.

Jarrad Branthwaite had headed the visitors into an early lead which was cancelled out by Jacob Ramsey, but Nick Pope’s blunder handed Beto a second goal on a plate.

Eddie Howe’s men, who had lost to Aston Villa and Brentford in their previous two home games, have now won just one of their seven most recent league fixtures and find themselves in the wrong half of the table heading into a brutal run of fixtures in three different competitions in March.

By contrast, the Toffees climbed into eighth place as they hit 40 points, just five adrift of the top six, after a committed display.

Eliezer Mayenda had put Sunderland ahead

Substitute Evanilson claimed a second-half equaliser as **Bournemouth** stretched their unbeaten run to eight Premier League games by battling back to draw 1-1 against **Sunderland**.

Eliezer Mayenda volleyed the Blacks Cats into an early lead at Vitality Stadium with his first goal since the opening weekend of the season.

But the visitors were denied a first top-flight away victory since October when Evanilson converted Marcus Tavernier's cross with his shoulder 27 minutes from time.
