Florian Wirtz injury update after Liverpool’s 5-2 win over West Ham.
Arne Slot has admitted he does not expect Florian Wirtz to be back for Liverpool’s next fixture.
The attacking midfielder was absent for the 5-2 victory over West Ham United at Anfield. Wirtz also missed a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest as he pulled out of the warm-up.
After Forest, Slot was not overly concerned about the injury of Wirtz. But the Germany international’s problem has worsened and he looks set to miss the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday. The Reds then travel to Wolves three days later in the FA Cup fifth round and Wirtz will remain doubtful.
Liverpool head coach Slot said at his post-West Ham press conference: “I think that will be too early. I said last week I didn't expect him not to be available today. Sometimes, with an injury, things can develop in a positive or a negative way.
“Now, we are thinking it doesn't have to take too long but Tuesday will probably be too early. But the week after, will be tight as things stand now. I thought he would be available for today as well, which didn't happen, of course.”
