Furious Leeds United boss Daniel Farke sent off after confronting referee at end of Man City…

Daniel Farke has received a red card immediately after Leeds United's home defeat to Manchester City. Leeds pushed Pep Guardiola's side all the way but could not find an equaliser.

Premier League title chasing City ran out 1-0 winners after January signing Antoine Semenyo found the net from close range on the stroke of half time. It came at a pivotal time as Brenden Aaronson saw a great chance be saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma in the City goal, not long before City scored their eventual winner.

Farke's team pushed the Cityzens all the way, but a combination of last-ditch defending and impressive goalkeeping stopped them from finding an equaliser. When the final whistle was blown, the Leeds boss jogged onto the pitch furiously and confronted the officials.

He walked right up to the face of referee Peter Bankes, pointed at him and shouted something at the official. Not long after, Bankes pulled the red card out of his pocket and sent off the German.

Before the card was held up to Farke, Leeds shot-stopper Karl Darlow could be seen trying to usher his manager away, as did Ethan Ampadu. It's unclear as to what exactly Farke was so furious about, given there were not too many contentious calls in the match.

It's possible he was angry with the time-keeping, given the final whistle was blown just as Leeds had launched a free-kick into City's third of the pitch. Ironically, Guardiola could also be seen barracking the fourth official for the match not being ended, seconds before the whistle was blown.

However, the Catalan's angry reaction was not seen in the same light as Farke's confrontation with the referee, as he ceased his protestations when the game had ended. As of right now, it's currently unclear as to what the punishment for Farke will be.
