The Premier League has released a statement clarifying why Daniel Farke was sent off at full-time of Leeds United’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City.
A clearly very angry Farke headed straight to referee Peter Bankes and was issued a red card by the official.
Confusion surrounded exactly what angered Farke, or indeed why he was dismissed, given there were no real flashpoints beforehand.
Antoine Semenyo’s goal right at the end of the first half ultimately proved the difference between the two sides at Elland Road in the end.

What was official reason for Daniel Farke red card vs Man City?
Farke is usually a manager who is able to contain his emotions, but that was clearly not the case on Saturday evening.

Clarifying why the German was dismissed, a message posted via the Premier League Match Centre account on X read: “Daniel Farke was shown a red card for entering the pitch and confronting the referee after the final whistle.”
What has not been cleared up at this point, however, is exactly why Farke was so angry at the officials.
One reason could be the amount of time added on, but even that did not garner the reaction it got from the Leeds manager.

Rayan Cherki also got away with stamping on Anton Stach, while Leeds had a penalty shout turned down.
