Man Utd injury news as they face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

United made one change to their starting line up for their first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Leny Yoro handed a start in place of the injured Martinez. The Argentine missed the match due to a small calf issue, but was expected to return to training before the end of the week.

It is still not clear whether Martinez will be risked when United host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, but Michael Carrick is hopeful he will return soon. The 28-year-old will undergo a late fitness test before a decision is made on his potential involvement, with United also set to face Newcastle in the league next midweek.

Lisandro Martinez injury latest

Manchester United have won five of their last nine league matches that Lisandro Martinez has started, and won just eight of their 19 without him this campaign. Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire kept a clean sheet in his absence last time out against Everton, and while that pleased Carrick, he would love to have the Argentine available for selection this weekend.

Asked how United would cope without a player like Martinez, Carrick told reporters in the embargoed section of his pre-match press conference: "We've always responded well, we kept a clean sheet. So they responded well, I thought Leny came in and did ever so well," he said.

"Yeah, Licha, it was a small issue, so he's getting closer. He won't be out for very long so we'll just monitor him over the next day, two, three or four days and see when he can come back, but he's he's not far away."

It means United could be without four senior players for the visit of Crystal Palace, with Matthijs De Ligt, Patrick Dorgu and Mason Mount all still sidelined. Speaking in the first section of his press conference, Carrick insisted Mount was 'getting closer' while he added that De Ligt is 'definitely improving', though he warned it was still too soon to put a precise timeframe on his potential return.
