Manchester United host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. And manager Michael Carrick is still yet to taste defeat since taking the helm until the end of the campaign.
The former United midfielder assumed control following Ruben Amorim's dismissal and in what marks his second stint in the role, he made a perfect start with victory over local rivals Manchester City. The encouraging form has continued.
Across his opening six fixtures of this spell, the Englishman has overseen an unbeaten run, with his side dropping points just once in a 1-1 draw against West Ham when scoring a late equaliser.
Whether Carrick will stay beyond this season remains uncertain, with numerous high-profile candidates being linked. However, one former player believes the 44-year-old merits the role on a permanent basis, as The Manchester Evening News delivers the latest from Old Trafford.
Michael Carrick told he 'deserves' job
Based on his achievements at Old Trafford this season, former United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, now at West Ham, believes Carrick warrants becoming United manager long term.
"He's someone you can trust," Wan-Bissaka, whom previously Carrick coached at United, told the Daily Mail. "He will also trust you back if you buy into him and what he's looking to do.

"If you trust him, he will trust you. He was quite simple in what he wanted from you. The boys were happy with him and the games he had when he was the manager.
"With him back at the club now, they are in a good place as a team. I think he should be given the full-time role," Wan-Bissaka declared. "I think he deserves it."
Manager endorsed by senior figure
Wan-Bissaka isn't the only one seemingly convinced by Carrick's performance during his initial matches in charge. According to The Telegraph, a high-ranking individual at the club has given the manager a glowing endorsement.

As per their report, an unnamed senior figure commented: "There's a stark difference – you see it." This is in reference to the previous tenure under Amorim, when the team largely languished in the lower half of the table and failed to secure European football last season.
Another insider reportedly stated: "It's just ironic to think that the potential solution to so many long-term issues has been a stalking horse 100 yards or so from Ruben Amorim's office and neither he – nor anyone else for that matter – had any idea of what was to come."
