Newcastle United veteran insists he still has plenty to offer the Magpies ahead of his contract expiry at St James' Park this June.

The former England full-back will be out of contract on June 30, and as it stands, there is no sign of an extension from United. Trippier will be 36 in September and has been linked with Saudi Pro League clubs.

He is regarded by fans as one of the most influential signings of the modern era after transforming the club's fortunes from a relegation haunted side into a European and cup winning outfit.

Eddie Howe indicated he would sit down with Trippier soon to discuss the next steps for his vice-captain. Despite being one of the oldest players in the squad he has still made 29 appearances this term.

Trippier told the club programme: "I'm far from done as a player. I think age is just a number.

"With the nutrition we've got these days and the way you look after your body and yourself, it's key.

"That's what I have been doing throughout my career and I still feel fit, strong like I've still got many years left in my playing career."

The crunch decision for Newcastle will be whether they can offer Trippier a one or two-year deal. Howe had said on Friday: "I think his long-term future will be something again that we discuss, but it won't be one way. It'll be with Kieran.

"Kieran's vastly experienced, he knows what he wants as well, so we'll sit together and we'll try and come to the right conclusion for everybody."

Trippier also stated he would be keen to go for a different role in the future too, he said: "I definitely see myself as being a coach in the future."
