“Not well received” – Question marks over player’s attitude at Nottingham Forest

Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered Calciomercato’s claims about the possibility of Lorenzo Lucca returning to Napoli from Nottingham Forest in the summer.

They appeared certain that the striker will not be signed by the Midlands club, who have been left unimpressed.

He scored on his debut against Leeds United but hasn’t made a mark after that. This came right after it became clear that Lucca hadn’t quite applied himself under Antonio Conte at Napoli. This played a role in his early departure from Naples.

Now, similar patterns are following the player at Nottingham Forest.

Lucca’s attitude questioned

Journalist Luca Marchetti spoke to Radio Marte about the 25-year-old, indicating that things aren’t going well in England.

He claimed Lucca’s attitude wasn’t impressing people at Napoli and the same is happening at Nottingham Forest.

The journalist said – relayed by CalcioNapoli24: “Lucca may have had attitudes that didn’t please everyone, but that’s not the basis for any reasoning.”

Marchetti said Lucca’s entourage have to look at the situation at a deeper level.

“In football, results determine moods. Clubs must evaluate a player from a technical standpoint. A player’s attitudes aren’t well received by fans, not even in England, apparently, and this should prompt reflection on both the player and his entourage.”

Lucca has some months to prove himself

So far at Nottingham Forest, the striker has played twice in the Europa League. He didn’t score in those but it suggests that he is likely to get enough minutes until the end of the campaign.

It will be key for him to score and play some role in their possible survival. During his time at Udinese, he did come up with important contributions, scoring 23 times in 75 games in all competitions.

Napoli would ideally like him to make a mark too. Since he struggled in Naples, they would want him to help him earn back the amount, so they don’t incur losses in the deal.
