Newcastle United could now be up against it, as Arsenal have surged into the race to sign a "fantastic" player, who excels in big games.
Gunners enter race to sign new midfielder
The Gunners are faring well in their pursuit of the Premier League title, but the race is really starting to heat up, with Manchester City applying pressure by defeating Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday.
With City breathing down their necks, it's now Mikel Arteta's side's turn to do the business, but they will have their work cut out, as they take on Champions League-chasing Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium later today.
The north Londoners are still competing for four trophies this season, and Arteta has made it clear he is fully focussed on the task at hand, saying: "We are really excited. Going on four fronts and the way the team is consistently performing gives us a lot of hope and positive thoughts about what is coming. But we can only focus on the present, that's where we're going to put our energy and that's on Sunday."
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta applauds fans after the match
However, the recruitment team have one eye on the summer transfer window, and it has now been revealed they have surged into the race for Paris Saint-Germain star Senny Mayulu, who is being targeted by a whole host of Premier League clubs.
That is according to a report from Caught Offside, which states Arsenal are keen on signing the 19-year-old, alongside Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa, with the latter two clubs making initial approaches already.
The Gunners' interest could pose a problem for the Magpies, however, given that Eddie Howe's side are sitting in 12th place, while Arteta's men continue to set the pace at the summit of the Premier League table.
A deal could be on the expensive side, with the French side expected to hold out for €65m - €70m (£57m - £61m), now that talks about a new contract have reached a standstill.

A potential blow for Mikel Arteta...
"Fantastic" Mayulu is a big-game player
Last season, the Frenchman scored in PSG's 5-0 Champions League final victory against Inter Milan, and he has continued to thrive in big games this season, receiving plaudits for his ability to turn up on the big occasion from scout Jacek Kulig.
Lauded as "fantastic" by journalist Kyle Bonn, the youngster is excellent at winning back possession, averaging 2.7 tackles per 90 in Ligue 1, which is the most of any PSG player.
Not only that, but the teenager also has a keen eye for goal, registering three goals and four assists in 17 Ligue 1 outings this term.
Mayulu is an extremely versatile player, capable of featuring in central midfield, at centre-forward, and on the left-wing, so it would be exciting if Arsenal were to make an approach this summer.
