Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is set to appeal his red card following his side's defeat at home to Manchester City, with the club planning to request that the FA review 'ref cam' footage in an attempt to have the decision overturned.

Farke was sent off after the final whistle at Elland Road as he made his way towards referee Peter Bankes. However, the Leeds boss insists the card was shown before he had uttered a single word to the officials.

The German was visibly shocked by the ruling and was caught on camera questioning Bankes as to the reason for his dismissal.

Farke has since held discussions with club officials regarding the incident and believes footage captured by the camera Bankes had attached to his ear during the match will vindicate him entirely.

Leeds are expected to lodge a formal appeal with the FA, and the club are confident that the video evidence will demonstrate that Farke has no case to answer, reports the Mirror.

Whilst Farke now faces a potential touchline ban, he is still anticipated to take his place in the dugout for Tuesday's pivotal home fixture against Sunderland, as his case is unlikely to be resolved in time.

The Premier League confirmed on X why Farke had been sent off, writing that a red card had been shown 'for entering the pitch and confronting the referee after the final whistle'.

Leeds assistant manager Edmund Riemer was quick to defend Farke, saying in a post-match press conference: "I am disappointed because he's never a manager who's over aggressive or over reacting. I think it's a very harsh decision."

Riemer added: "Probably the explanation is going to be he (Farke) was over emotional, how he's gone on the pitch, I would suggest. He's really disappointed to be sent off and would have wished for a more sensitive action from the referee as well."
