Glenn Murray slams Nottingham Forest star for 'sloppy' display against Brighton

Nottingham Forest were beaten 2-1 by Brighton at the AMEX Stadium as Vitor Pereira was handed a second straight Premier League defeat.

The Reds were beaten after goals from Diego Gomez and Danny Welbeck came either side of a stunning effort by Morgan Gibbs-White.

Pereira was handed a glimpse of the task at hand as his shot-shy team struggled to carve out any real opportunities to hurt Brighton and get back into the game.

Forest had a number of players who were once again out of form and looked devoid of any real confidence or determination to put a shift in and get three points.

Glenn Murray spotted that trait in one player, and he had some stern words for Murillo.

Glenn Murray felt Murillo was ‘sloppy’ vs Brighton

Murillo was subbed off at half-time in Thursday’s defeat against Fenerbahce, and he should have looked quite well rested for this one.

Instead, he was miles off the pace by his usual standards and didn’t really cover himself in much glory for the second goal scored by Welbeck just 40 seconds after Gibbs-White had equalised.

He said live on Sky Sports: “He’s been sloppy today, Murillo, in possession and out. He’s certainly not been the player that we’ve grown to know since he came in at Forest.

Murillo will need to get better on the back of this performance and with Manchester City to come away from home on Wednesday, a more dependable Brazilian is required.

Murillo needs to sharpen up

It’s not ideal that the sought-after defender produced his worst possible performance in a game that Forest desperately needed to win in order to put daylight between them and West Ham.

Who was the worst performing player against Brighton?

The Reds slipped to a 2-1 defeat…

The player is one of the most important in the Forest squad, and ultimately, the Reds will need Murillo to produce his best form between now and the end of the campaign.

Murillo was sloppy at best against Brighton, and he must quickly park this performance and start showcasing the sort of form that has got most of the Premier League chasing his signature.

Clearly, the defender wasn’t the only poor performer against Brighton, but his showing caused a lot of problems for the Reds and also led to the Seagulls creating a lot of chances.
