West Ham "in talks" with PL club to offload forgotten £30m David Moyes signing

**West Ham United are in talks to offload banished midfielder James Ward-Prowse, with Burnley showing interest, according to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/live-blog/11095/13353582/burnley-transfer-news-rumours-and-gossip-live-updates-and-latest-on-deals-signings-loans-and-contracts?postid=10898530#liveblog-body).**

The experienced midfielder has become a forgotten figure in East London.

Since Nuno Espirito Santo took charge, Ward-Prowse has not featured in a single matchday squad, despite his pedigree as an England international with 11 caps and two goals to his name.

It is clear he does not fit into the manager’s plans, and his role at the club has diminished. While he has not been formally placed in a group of unwanted players, the signs are hard to ignore.

Ward-Prowse has often trained alone and has recently been excluded from full 11-v-11 training games involving the first team.

It marks a shocking fall from grace for a player who arrived with high expectations just two years ago.

Burnley are reportedly monitoring Ward-Prowse’s situation despite struggling near the foot of the Premier League table.

Scott Parker’s side are understood to be considering a loan move in the hope of reviving Ward-Prowse’s season and adding experience to their midfield.

Both sides have held talks over a potential deal, but Burnley have yet to make an official approach.

West Ham need to cash in on Ward-Prowse while he still has any value to give. The 31-year-old  midfielder [joined the Hammers for £30 million](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12936960/james-ward-prowse-west-ham-complete-lb30m-move-for-southampton-captain-in-boost-to-their-midfield#:~:text=David%20Beckham%20vs%20James%20Ward,from%20the%20age%20of%20eight.) from Southampton under David Moyes’ leadership.

However, Ward-Prowse has hardly kicked a ball for West Ham since the Scotsman’s departure, and his situation has only worsened with Nuno in the dugout.

West Ham were reportedly considering another managerial change when it seemed like they were falling deeper into the relegation battle.

However, recent results, notably the 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, have convinced the board to back the manager, so Ward-Prowse will be better off finding a new club.

There are rumours that a reunion with Moyes at Everton could be on the cards. But it remains to be seen how West Ham would value the midfielder whose contract runs out in 2027.
